The Appalachian Trail in Massachusetts
The Appalachian Trail enters Massachusetts from the north at the Long Trail's southern terminus
near the towns of Williams and North Adams. From there, the A.T. climbs the highest point in the state--Mount Greylock--with
the Appalachian Mountain Club's lodge on top. The trail continues across the Berkshire range, crosses
the valley and climbs into the Taconics where the trail climbs Jug End, crosses Mount Everett, dips down into the lush
Sages Ravine and exits the state after 90 miles as it climbs the side of Bear Mountain, whose summit is in Connecticut.
