The Appalachian Trail in Maryland
The 40 miles of Appalachian Trail in Maryland follow South Mountain. There are
noteworthy views from Weverton Cliffs, just north of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. The footpath
also follows a portion of the C&O Canal Towpath, and passes through Washington Monument and
Gathland State Parks.
A.T. Clubs in Maryland
Mountain Club of Maryland
maintains a portion of the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania. They take care of the
30 miles from the Susquehanna River to Darlington Trail and from Center Point
Knob to Pine Grove Furnace State Park, PA.
The Appalachian Trail in Maryland is maintained by volunteers from
the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club.
The PATC covers the 238 miles of trail from Pine Grove Furnace State Park, PA to
Rockfish Gap, VA.
