The Appalachian Trail in New Hampshire

For 168 miles, the Appalachian Trail traverses New Hampshire bisecting the White Mountains National Forest and passing through some of the most spectacular scenery in the state. Some of the many highlights include the Presidential Range with the highest point in New England--Mount Washington--and a traverse of Franconia Ridge.

The Appalachian Mountain Club has huts for hikers to use in the high mountains. Unlike A.T. shelters, these are unique accomodations with bunk rooms, and meals available for prices comparable to a motel stay. The Appalachian Trail also passes through the town of Hanover before crossing the White River into Vermont.
