The Appalachian Trail in New Jersey
The 74 miles of Appalachian Trail is more rugged and remote than the footpath in either Connecticut or New York.
From the south, the A.T. enters the state at Delaware Water Gap, where it passes through the National Recreation Area.
Climbing into the Kittatiny Mountains, the trail passes by Sunfish Pond, a small glacial lake. Interspersed with a trail through rolling farmland are
a few hard climbs (out of Culvers Gap, and up Pochuck and Wawayanda). The path crosses Wawayanda and
High Point State Parks.
