The Appalachian Trail in Tennessee

For most of its mileage in Tennessee, the Appalachian Trail follows the boundary with North Carolina. From the Great Smoky Mountains National Park northward to Roan Mountain, the A.T. is usually close to or following the state line. From Roan Mountain the A.T. goes north through Laurel Fork Gorge, over the dam at Watauga Lake and across a long ridge to Virginia.
