The Appalachian Trail in West Virginia

Just north of Pearisburg, Virginia, the Appalachian Trail follows the Virginia/ West Virginia state line along Peters Mountain.

Further north in the area around Harpers Ferry, the A.T. spends 2.5 miles wholely in West Virginia. Here the trail travels through the historic town, passing in front of John Brown's Fort and other sites significant to the town's history.

A.T. Clubs in West Virginia

Potomac Appalachian Trail Club covers 238 miles from Pine Grove Furnace State Park, PA to Rockfish Gap, VA., which includes the trail through Harpers Ferry, WV.

Roanoke Appalachian Trail Club maintains the 135 miles from Black Horse Gap to the New River, which includes the area along Peters Mountain near Pearisburg where the A.T. follows the Virginia/West Virginia state line.
